We have moved

It is so exciting, we have a new home for our art group. After nearly ten years in our old site we have been granted a lease by the Cassowary Coast Regional Council to occupy the historic Cardwell School of Arts Building in the historic precinct of Cardwell by the Sea

Our new Cardwell Gallery is small but it is bright, airy and a wonderful art space.

Over the years we have been saving for this and now have a well equipped space to showcase local art works.

History of the Cardwell Gallery

In 2000 the site of our Gallery was a derelict old service station building in the main street of Cardwell.

It was created from virtually nothing, the group had no financial resources but it had imagination & some community members who were willing to give it a go and some generous locals who donated bits & bobs to help out.

Donations of light fittings, paint, flag poles, old display stands and cabinets and working bees to pull it all together. It is amazing what can be achieved with a little imagination and goodwill.

The building was an empty shell in very poor condition;-locals were calling for it to be demolished but it offerred us a chance to establish a gallery and arts base for the community.

We are very proud of our little community gallery and we are proud to say that this will be our 9th year of opening our doors to showcase local art & craft.

The gallery could not operate without our wonderful volunteers and the support of our community and visitors
